Days of Repenting and Praising...

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near..."

Isaiah 55:6

President Préval declared that the entire country of Haiti enter a three day state of repentance.  When the Haitian leaders make a decree like this, the people take it very seriously.

It brought tears to my eyes when I walked down to the Love A Child Disaster Relief Center and saw hundreds of injured Haitians with their hands up praising the Lord.  This scene is just so touching.  I know it is hard for you to really understand how touching these services are from my words and pictures.  The pictures and words just do not relay the real feeling and spirit filled atmosphere that their worship creates.  The praise and worship part is so spirit filled that it makes you stand right where you are and raise your hands to the Lord.  The Haitian people make such a joyful noise unto the Lord...

They are fasting, repenting, praying and worshiping for hours and hours.  This has been going on for the last three days.  Both camps, the LAC Disaster Relief Center and Camp Hope are participating...

Pastor Varius leads the service at the LAC Disaster Relief Center.  Some of our orphans were at the services.  Many people are eager to share his or her testimony...

This one lady really got my attention.  She is a beautiful young Haitian woman with a heart for the Lord.  Here she is sitting in her wheel chair,  with only one leg and one arm, praising God and sharing with the group her story...

She was in Port au Prince during the earthquake.  I am not sure what she was doing at the time of the earthquake, but she ended up under a mountain of cement.  She must have been trapped for over a day or two before help came to dig her out.  Once she was taken from the rubble, she went to the public hospital in Jimini in the Dominican Republic.

In Jimini, she was taken into surgery.  While she was sharing this story with the group under the blue tarps and the tropical breeze blowing, she said, "it was like a dream."  She went on to say...  "Jesus was standing right beside me.  Jesus told me it didn’t matter if I didn’t have a leg or an arm, that he loves me just the same, and that I can do his work without my leg and arm.  Jesus told me to tell others to follow him or else there will be even worse disasters to come.  He told me to go back and to bring others to Jesus."

I looked at this lady and my heart broke as I saw her with only one leg and one arm.  She isn’t feeling sad about her loss, she is raising her hand in praise for the Lord. 

This must be her husband who reached down to hug her after she finished her testimony. 

Just like I always say, “the Haitian people are so use to suffering.” 

The needs are great here.  People need food, clothes, shoes, toiletries, blankets and the list goes on and on.  We have to do all we can to ease their pain, what can you do today to help our Haitian friends?
